Thank you, SCWA members!
SUPPORT FOR STORYFEST, SCWA GREATLY APPRECIATED
We would like to thank everyone for your support of this organization. Because of you, we are able to procure accomplished agents, editors, screenwriters, and best-selling, award-winning authors for 2024 Storyfest, a conference that rivals any in the Southeast, both in content and conference cost! We look forward to a stellar conference next year – details will be forthcoming by next year’s committee after the holidays.
To those who braved conditions that no one expected, drove through difficult roads, and patiently tolerated the hotel loss of power and all of the last-minute rearranging for 2024 Storyfest – many thanks to you for your dedication! The Upstate of South Carolina suffered devastating damages, and Asheville and surrounding areas, as all are aware by now, have been decimated and spend be years recovering.
As soon as decisions are made for the 2025 Storyfest conference, you will be informed!
Many asked for Alan Roth, our keynote address screenwriter, to come back and do his “Book to Screen” presentation that was scheduled for Saturday. Good news – Alan wants to do a Zoom presentation for our Author’s Toolbox session in January. He also may be able to get a producer to join him for that presentation! Stay tuned for details.
Wishing you all the best as we move forward together!
Let’s tell some stories!
Sincerely,
The SCWA 2024 Storyfest Committee

HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR SCWA
Please consider volunteering as a member of the SCWA Board, either as a director on this working board or as an advisor, providing your guidance.
You also could serve SCWA and fellow members by serving on one of the various committees rather than being a board member - help plan the next conference or other events, provide your ideas and expertise to promote and market SCWA and its events, guide us as we look at grants to help the organization, advise us on other fundraising and financial matters. There’s so much you could do.
Please consider stepping up to help YOUR SCWA.
For more information, email our administrator, Laura Corbin, at administrator@myscwa.org or President Ash Smith at president@myscw.org. If you would like to apply for a board position, please fill out the form at 2025 SCWA Board Application.

AUTHOR’S TOOLBOX PROGRAMS CONTINUE
SCWA will offer two more Author’s Toolbox sessions this year - one this month and one in November - free to members and $25 to nonmembers. (We are looking ahead to 2025, possibly booking some of our Storyfest faculty, so stay tuned!)
NOTE: All Author’s Toolbox sessions are recorded and the link is emailed to all registrants for the individual sessions. They also are uploaded on the SCWA website in Recorded Events under the Members Only tab, available to all active members - another great benefit of membership.
