Message from the President
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of our cherished advisors, agent Marly Rusoff, recently observed that SCWA is reinventing itself. It hadn’t occurred to me that the path we’ve chosen was perceived that boldly, but there’s truth in that.
When we look back at the accomplishments of our members and our board in 2020, there’s much to be proud of.
We look ahead with much hope and promise. Our 2021 objectives reflect an ambitious agenda that fits with Emerson’s philosophy, something I believe applies to organizations, too.

INDIE AUTHOR DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
SCWA is exploring whether to host events and/or activities in conjunction with the fifth annual international Indie Author Day on Nov. 13, 2021. We are looking for volunteers to help make a determination and plan accordingly. SCWA has many indie authors and invites more to join our organization.
What is Indie Author Day? Each year, libraries and organizations around the world welcome local indie authors, writers, and their communities in for a day of education, networking, mingling, writing, open mics, panels, and so much more!
Because we are a volunteer-led organization, such an undertaking is impossible without your help. Click here to sign up for a planning team that is being formed. A virtual organizational meeting is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8. Questions may be directed to scwamembership@gmail.com.
